Are you keeping up with deadlines?

As we move through the spring semester, I have to say that I think it is so great how much paperwork I have seen getting turned in to the Financial Aid Office and how many students are actively trying to have their FAFSA  completed by the UWL priority date for FAFSA of March 15th. It’s great to see everyone so on top of dates and their Wings To-Do list!

That being said, there is still one thing that I see a lot of students struggle with that is also very important: the semester due dates. I have spent eight semesters at UWL now, and each semester I see the same thing happen. There are always students who don’t pay attention to the tuition due date deadline, and they are then given additional charges for being late on their student bill.

For the Spring 2016 semester, the tuition due date is March 8th. This is coming up pretty quick (as it is next Tuesday already!!)! As someone who talks to students on a daily basis, it stresses me out for them when they come into the Office stressed out about how they have not figured out the funds yet to pay for their spring bill—especially when the due date is so close. Therefore, one of the things that I urge everyone to do is do your research beforehand. Do your research, be in contact with the offices on campus, and stay on top of these deadlines. By figuring out what the due dates are and communicating with these departments, you’ll be better able to set yourself up to have your bill paid on time, and not be running around in a frenzy the week before the bill is due.

Besides the extra charges added to your bill each time it is due, if you do not have the balance paid, owing a bill will prevent you from registering for the next semester at your scheduled time. Plan ahead, avoid the extra charges and increase your chances of getting into the classes you need by paying attention to the due dates.

If you are ever feeling overwhelmed, in need of some assistance, or just want clarification on these matters, please don’t hesitate to come in and talk to us (215 Graff Main Hall)! UWL provides you with awesome resources and individual staff to make your life a lot easier!
